Roberto Nunez has been an active member of the construction community since childhood, beginning his career at age 12 working on job sites for his family’s construction company. His early start grew into a distinguished 40 year career marked by leadership, technical expertise, and industry influence. Through his recent retirement from both IQ Contracting and NC State University, Roberto has mentored hundreds of engineers, shaping the next generation of construction professionals.

Roberto is widely recognized as a leader in the concrete industry. He is a Fellow of the American Concrete Institute (ACI), a licensed Professional Engineer in North Carolina, South Carolina, Michigan, and Ecuador, and an Emeritus Faculty member within NC State University’s Department of Civil, Construction, and Environmental Engineering. He is a frequent national and international contributor in resolving complex concrete challenges and continues to support the industry through specialized engineering analysis as President of IQ Engineering, PLLC.

As cofounder and former president of IQ Contracting, Roberto played a foundational role in establishing the company’s technical standards, culture, and reputation. He now serves on the Board of Directors and remains a trusted consultant, providing guidance and expertise whenever IQC encounters unique or highly technical concrete issues.
