The Piedmont Triad International Airport’s 50 year old elevated roadway—its primary public access route—required a full structural rehabilitation to support a modernized front door experience. Working from Walker Consultants’ design, IQ Contracting removed and replaced the deteriorated topping slab, executed complex strengthening repairs to the underlying structure, and completed extensive concrete restoration throughout pedestrian tunnels and access routes. IQ also provided delegated structural design, in partnership with Lysaght & Associates, for a new heavily landscaped courtyard constructed over the roadway. Integrated roofing, electrical, and plumbing upgrades rounded out the effort, delivering a safer, more durable, and significantly improved arrival sequence for all airport visitors.
